How do you prevent boredom?
All babies want to learn. They want discover the world. They are intrigued by the 'new'. Boredom is nothing more than your baby actually telling you: ”This is boring, I understand this by now, I would like to see or experience something different." Some babies show that they are bored very well. They cry and are restless. As a parent you realize that your baby is actually looking for a new challenge. Other infants do not demonstrate boredom as clearly. They withdraw and thus provide less visible and audible clues. As a parent of such a baby it is very important to realize that your baby gets bored. He will not let you know and he will not indicate that he wants you to do new things with him, but that does not mean that he does not need to. He does! Take him to search for something that will excite him, that helps him to discover new challenges and fun things.
Your baby's mental development is very important and significant. It affects not only your baby's mood, but also his health, his intelligence, his sleeping pattern, the three C’s (crying, clinginess, crankiness), and much more. Once you understand your baby’s mental development, you can help your baby in so many ways. If you would like to learn more about the mental development of your baby, order a copy of The Wonder Weeks, which is based on international research.
